Part 1: The Big Market Exploration & Interactive Shopping Your adventure starts at a thriving local market—a vibrant hub far from tourist crowds. As we walk through aisles of fresh produce, cooked foods, spices, dried goods, and local snacks, you call the shots! Spot a bizarre mushroom you’ve never seen? Curious about how locals prepare chicken feet, special regional veggies, or exotic spices? We’ll buy them on the spot and build tonight’s dinner around what excites you most. You can also shop for authentic local seasonings at true local prices to take home. Part 2: Hands-On Kitchen Fun & Culinary Secrets Back at our home, unwind with a warm Chinese tea welcome—sampling green tea, black tea, or Shaanxi’s local specialty, Fu Tea (茯茶). Then, put on an apron and jump into the kitchen! This is a complete hands-on experience. You’ll learn how everyday Chinese households chop, balance spices, and master the high-heat magic of wok-frying. We’ll explain every technique, step-by-step, as we bring your chosen market finds to life. (Want to fold dumplings or pull noodles too? Just say the word!) What will we cook? There is no fixed menu. You choose ingredients together at the market that morning, so the meal changes every time.
Can you accommodate food allergies? Unfortunately not — this experience is not suitable for travellers with food allergies, as the menu is decided spontaneously at the market.
Is this really someone’s home? Yes. You are welcomed into a local family’s kitchen, not a rented studio. Please treat the home with respect.
